30 Sep 30 September, International Translation Day
Today, 30 September, is International Translation Day.
Translators work every day so you can watch your favourite films and series, read, play videogames, open businesses abroad, shop online, and other day-to-day things that require a translator’s work in the background.
It is considered one of the oldest professions in the world, and the world wouldn´t be as we know it today if it wasn’t for translation. The important work of professional linguists helps to break down borders, understand cultures, broaden horizons, and bring communities together.
Translation is an invisible profession with no timetables, holidays, or global pandemics. Even if the world grinds to a halt, translation must continue.
That’s why, today, we would like to thank all the translators who keep things going, and all those who support and value the profession.
Happy Translation Day!
